Hey, I´m Jacinto
I’ve spent more than three decades performing, recording, and teaching popular percussion across Latin America and the Caribbean—on stages, in studios, rehearsal rooms, and classrooms.

Over the years, I’ve worked with instruments and traditions such as congas, pandeiro, timbales, cajón, tambor alegre, tambora, güira, maracas, zabumba, and candombe drums, always in real professional contexts: concerts, recording sessions, ensemble work, and teaching environments. And like many percussionists, I didn’t learn from a single clear source.
I learned from fragmented materials, contradictory explanations, oral traditions passed down inconsistently, and years of trial and error—often discovering on the bandstand that what I thought was “right” wasn’t what the music actually needed.
Teaching didn’t make it easier.
Finding clear, reliable, and well-organized material to explain rhythms, structure, and function—without confusion or oversimplification—was just as hard.

So GroovinPocket is the result of organizing all of that the hard way. It’s where I share the clarity, criteria, and structure I spent years searching for—so you don’t have to guess, hesitate, or waste time trying to piece things together when it matters most.
This is not about learning everything.
It’s about knowing what works, why it works, and when to use it.
